For the 4th of July, though, the following are the hotel’s highly recommended activities or events to check out.
#1 – The City of Boston’s Official Independence Day Commemoration
Head to City Hall Plaza to witness the early morning flag raising ceremony. Afterward, follow the parade leading to the Granary Burial Ground and continuing on to the Old State House.
#2 – The Boston Harborfest
This popular local festival will take place at Boston Harbor, which is just walking distance from the hotel. This event pays tribute to the city’s colonial and maritime heritage. It includes revolutionary re-enactments, free concerts, tours, exhibits, and cruises up and down the bay. Plus, like any festival throughout the country, there’s going to be a lot of good eats available.
#3 – Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular
No Independence Day celebration is complete without fireworks. You can enjoy the pyrotechnic and live music extravaganza at Charles River Esplanade. Just make sure you come a little early to get a good spot because huge crowds gather here to witness the special red, white, and blue fireworks. And don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the magnificent explosions in the sky. (Perhaps bring a box of tissues as well because there’ll be patriotic tunes playing and those usually get people choked up with American pride.)
#4 – Walking Tour of The Freedom Trail
Boston has played a major role in the country’s fight for freedom. See how early patriots planned the American Revolution here and retrace their steps. Find out how much you actually remember (or don’t remember) from studying the revolution in history class.
Boston by Foot offers several walking tours, and on the 4th, you can sign up for “Footloose on the Freedom Trail” and “Ben Franklin: Son of Boston” during the day and “The Dark Side of Boston” at 6 p.m.
